Automations

An automation is your feed on autopilot: pick templates, link a TikTok account, YouTube channel or Instagram account, set a weekly schedule, and the system keeps a queue of posts generated ahead of time — publishing each one (or, for TikTok, sending it as a draft) when its time slot arrives.

Automations live in each project's Automations tab.

Creating an automation

Click New Automation and walk the six steps:

1 — Name & content brief. Give the automation a descriptive name, then describe what it should post about — including the topic, audience, angle, or voice that should stay consistent across the queue. The brief is optional once the project's brand is set up on its Overview tab, because your brand can drive the content on its own.

2 — Template. Check one or more templates. Each planned idea is assigned a template that fits it, and the generated post uses that template. Tick **Feature *your brand* to place your brand in the posts. If a selected template features your product (look for the Product** badge), it is ticked and locked, and the project's brand must be set up on its Overview tab. See Project overview.

3 — Account. Select a connected TikTok account, YouTube channel or Instagram account, click Link a TikTok account to connect one, or check I'll link later — posts will generate and queue but won't publish until you connect. With a TikTok account selected, choose a Publish mode under Posting settings:

  • Publish directly — posts go live automatically. Choose the privacy level, interactions, and content disclosure every post will use (same rules as manual posting).
  • Send as draft — each scheduled post goes to your TikTok inbox. Open TikTok to review it, set the posting options, and publish it yourself.

With a YouTube channel selected, every post publishes directly as a silent vertical Short: choose its visibility (Private, Unlisted, or Public) and whether it's made for kids. Each video's title is the caption's first line (without hashtags), and the caption is its description. YouTube automations post carousels only, and scheduled uploads count toward the 10 YouTube uploads a day. Connect a channel first on the project's Accounts tab — see Post to YouTube.

With an Instagram account selected, every post publishes directly to it as a photo or carousel post with its caption. Under Posting settings, check I approve scheduled publishing to this Instagram account to continue. Instagram automations post photos and carousels of up to 10 slides only, so leave video templates and longer ones unchecked. Connect the account first on the project's Accounts tab — see Post to Instagram.

4 — Schedule. Pick your Posting Days (any days of the week) and Number of Posts per day (1–5), with a time for each. Then choose:

  • Total Posts — Ongoing (runs forever) or Fixed count (stops after N posts).
  • Queue Ahead — how many posts to keep generated and ready (1–10, default 3).

Times are in your local timezone. A summary line confirms the plan, e.g. "6 posts per week · 2 per day on Mon, Wed, Fri · at 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM".

5 — Plan. Review upcoming post ideas and their assigned templates. Planning uses your brief and each template's content instructions: conversation templates get situations to act out, while educational templates get subjects to explain. Edit an idea, add your own with a selected template, or ask for more. Ideas are not finished captions or scripts; those are written when each post is generated. You can review up to 20 ideas during setup.

6 — Confirm. Review everything (each row has an Edit link) and click Create Automation.

The automation starts generating its first posts right away.

How it runs

The system checks in every 10 minutes, around the clock:

  • Publishes or sends drafts for queued posts whose scheduled time has arrived, according to the automation's publish mode (within ~10 minutes of each slot).
  • Tops up the queue — for each empty upcoming slot, it takes the next planned idea and generates it using its assigned template. The plan refills as needed using previously planned subjects to avoid repetition. If planning is temporarily unavailable and no ideas remain, generation uses your brief and a selected template.
  • A failed publish is retried automatically once before being marked Failed.

Direct posts flow Generating → Scheduled → Publishing → Posted. Drafts show Sending draft → Draft sent when they are delivered to TikTok; they do not go live until you publish them in the TikTok app.

For a fixed-count automation, the automation stays Running while any of the requested posts are still being generated, scheduled, or published. After the last requested post is published or sent as a draft, the automation changes to Completed. Its post history remains available.

Managing the queue

Planned next shows ideas that have not been generated yet. Open Edit plan to change them. Regenerate unedited ideas replaces generated ideas that you have not edited yourself; it keeps your manual ideas and posts already made. Removing a template from the automation also removes its unused ideas. Save changes to the brief, the Feature setting, or templates before adding or regenerating ideas in an existing automation.

Click an automation card to open its detail view — every queued post is listed with its status, time, caption, and slide previews. A post in the Scheduled state is edited right on its card: click its slides to change them and its caption. Its ⋮ menu has:

  • Post to TikTok now (or Send draft to TikTok now) — publish immediately, with one-off edits to the caption and TikTok settings. On a YouTube or Instagram automation, Post to YouTube now or Post to Instagram now publishes a photo post right away with the automation's settings.
  • Reschedule — pick a new date and time.
  • Remove — delete just that post; the queue generates a replacement for a future slot.

Posts that are generating, publishing, or already posted can't be edited.

Pause, edit, delete

  • Pause / Resume — in the detail view header. Paused automations stop both publishing and generating; queued posts stay put and resume on schedule.
  • Edit settings — the gear icon on an automation card reopens the wizard with every field editable. Schedule changes apply to future posts only. This is also where you link TikTok on a "Not Started" automation.
  • Run again / Make ongoing — a completed fixed-count automation can run another batch with the same post count, or switch to an ongoing schedule. Starting another batch keeps the earlier posts in its history.
  • Delete — removes the automation and its entire queue. You'll type delete to confirm; it can't be undone.

Watching it all in one place

The sidebar's Schedule calendar shows every automation post across all projects — see Schedule calendar.

Start with "I'll link later"

Not ready to connect TikTok? Create the automation anyway. It generates and queues posts so you can review the quality first — then link the account in settings, and publishing starts from the next slot.
